Pedra do Elefante

Welcome to one of the most popular and surprising trails in Terê: Pedra do Elefante. With an easy to moderate level, it's perfect for beginning hikers - and with a minimum of preparation.

Take a deep breath - you'll not only need a breath to reach 1,157 meters of elevation. But also because breathing that air from Pedra do Elefante will make you feel what it's like to be in Terê.

The path of about 1km is covered in 40 minutes until reaching the "head" of the elephant. The first 20min are steeper.

At the first stop, the view of the main mountains of Serra dos Órgãos is mesmerizing. Among them Finger of God and Finger of Our Lady. On the opposite side, Lake Comary.

You'll have trouble taking in the park in silence. The path inside Três Picos State Park (PETP) is full of birds, as we have the highest biodiversity index in Rio de Janeiro here.
